Why You Shouldn't Speak To Scam Callers

If you answer the phone to find out it's a robocall, you should hang up immediately without saying a word. Here's why. Often these scams will involve either a person or pre-recorded message asking a simple yes or no question. These questions could be as simple as, "can you hear me?" But even a simple "yes" answer will put you at risk. This is because, in some cases, scammers record your responses to impersonate you to make fraudulent purchases. But it also tells them that your number is active and willing to answer calls. Your number can then be sold to telemarketers or used for other scams. The best and safest way to avoid becoming a victim of these calls is by letting unknown calls go to voicemail.
