Grandpa Cries With Happiness When He Realizes All Eight Kids Will Be Together For First Time In 19 Years

A beloved grandpa could not hold back his tears of joy when he realized all eight of his children would be together for the first time in 19 years for his birthday - his one true wish for the celebrations. Grandfather Marino, 80, moved to the United States from the Dominican Republic in 1980 through a visa, initially going through a tough first three years and his wife and children waited for approval to join him in New York. Having built a family – five sons, three daughters – and a home in the U.S., Marino retired due to health reasons in 2007, before moving to Florida with one of his daughters. Today, four of Marino's children live in Florida, three remain in New York, where they established careers, and one lives in the Dominican Republic. As a result, Marino had not had all his children in one place for nearly two decades. His family worked for six months on a surprise to coordinate everyone's schedules and time off, so that they could come together to celebrate his 80th birthday. On May 7, one of Marino's daughters headed to his home for breakfast, where she asked her daughter, Arline Herrera, to capture what was about to happen on video. When Marino was told that his wish to have his children together again was about to come true that day, he could not hold back his tears of happiness as he sat at his kitchen table crying. Once everyone had arrived from out of town, the family celebrated Marino's birthday at a venue in Central Florida a few days later, on May 9.
