The video was produced by Mia Lazar and Ava Lazar Both are students at Blacksburg New School in Blacksburg, Virginia, where Mia is an eighth grader and Ava a sixth grader. The local cable provider was Comcast. C-SPAN Classroom's StudentCam video documentary contest is an annual national competition in which middle and high school students produce a documentary on a specific theme. The 2016 theme was "Road to the White House," with students answering the question, "What issues do you want presidential candidates to discuss?"
