SpaceX Alters Crew Dragon Toilet After Inspiration4 Incident

SpaceX has altered the toilet on board the Crew Dragon capsule that’s due to send astronauts to the ISS Oct. 31. The problem was identified during SpaceX’s Inspiration4 mission, which saw four civilians spend three days in space. According to Inspiration4 commander Jared Isaacman, an alarm went off alerting the crew to a problem with the toilet’s fan. The crew worked with SpaceX to troubleshoot the issue and thankfully no bodily fluids got loose inside the capsule. SpaceX's head of mission assurance said the tube that connects the toilet with the storage tank became “disconnected”. This caused urine to go into the fan system instead of the tank. When SpaceX staff pulled up the floor of the capsule they found “contamination”. SpaceX has now welded the tube in place to prevent this from happening on future missions
