A rare superpod of over 300 dolphins has been sighted off the coast of San Diego. Footage filmed from a whale watching boat shows the huge group surrounding two white vessels -with dozens leaping from the water simultaneously. The incredible spectacle gives the ocean the look that it is ‘boiling’ with graceful dolphins. As social creatures, dolphins live in pods and family groups - usually containing between two and 30 members, making such a large gathering rare. Melissa Newstrom, from Des Moines, Iowa, filmed the footage while on the Seaforth whale sightseeing tour boat with her husband Patrick and three-year-old son Amit.
