A man rescuing a seal with a gasket ring stuck around its neck almost got a ‘free vasectomy’ when the animal turned around and nipped him in the groin. The potentially painful injury was narrowly averted when Naude Dreyer, from Walvis Bay, Namibia, leapt backwards in the nick of time, leaving the seal to bite his inside leg. Had the bite landed millimetres to the right, it could have ended much worse. Naude revealed that he went for a tetanus shot straight after and was given a clean bill of health by the doctors. He had spotted the stricken creature with the plastic gasket ring stuck tightly around his neck on a beach near where he launches off in his kayak every day.
