A little girl was brought to tears at her birthday when she discovered her loving dad had turned a made-up bedtime story about her into a physical book. Emotional Katherine Crabtree, 10, burst into happy tears after unwrapping her birthday gift and started reading the first page. In the loving footage, Katherine, from Santa Barbara, California, can be seen in a birthday-candle hat taking the wrapping paper from the book, before inspecting the gift in front of her. Then, having read the first page, she suddenly realized the tale that lay inside - immediately starting to sob hysterically, while shouting, “Daddy?! You did this?!” in gratitude. The moment took place on October 10, 2019, and was the idea of her father, Brad Crabtree, 38, who moved to the US from Australia seven years earlier. The story Brad used to tell his daughter was of Princess Katherine, who lived with her family in a magical castle in a faraway land. Katherine was loving, brave and would often get in trouble because of the mischief she would create, Brad said, and one day she went on a magical adventure with a unicorn named Frankie. The story became Katherine’s favorite - so much so that she would ask for it every night. Brad would also include elements that would help his daughter deal with life challenges, too - such as dealing with bullies in school or sharing her toys. Then, around January or February of this year, Brad decided it was time to turn the story into a physical reality.
