Grandfather With Dementia Surprised With Pillow Of Late Wife

An elderly man with dementia was left beaming from ear to ear when he was surprised with a pillow featuring his late wife’s face. Robert Archer’s family revealed while his memories may be fading, when he realized who was on the pillow, Robert immediately started smiling and gave the pillow a big hug. Childhood sweethearts Robert and his late wife Angela Archer would have been married for 60 years in October, but sadly Angela passed away in 2016 aged 75. During the last years of her life, Angela cared for Robert, now 82, after he was diagnosed with dementia. Robert now receives care at home in Swindon, Wiltshire, UK, and his granddaughter Ellenor, 13, who said she adores her grandfather, wanted to do something special to surprise him. Rachel Archer, 48, said Ellenor was a bag of nerves when a care worker presented Robert with his gift - emotions that soon faded when she saw how happy her grandfather was. Since that moment, on May 5, Robert has slept with his pillow of Angela every night.
