Woman Surprised With Beloved Horse Family Were Forced To Sell

A woman who thought she was meeting a new puppy was instead reunited with her beloved horse her family were forced to sell but had secretly bought back without her knowing. Reid Ballard, 24, couldn’t believe her eyes when she arrived at her grandfather's house and saw her beloved colt, Loretta, and immediately broke down crying before heading over for a big hug. Loretta had previously been a shining light during a difficult time in Reid's life, giving her something to focus her attention on, and over the months that followed she fell in love with Loretta, gaining her trust and spending every minute she could with her. When she graduated in May 2021, Reid was accepted into veterinary school that coming August, which would see her head off to the Island of Grenada, West Indies, for three years. But these plans presented Reid’s grandfather with the problem of who would look after Loretta? With no alternative and Reid being the horse's primary caregiver, the family were forced to sell Loretta to give her the care she deserved. Reid's start date was later moved back to January 2022, but then, due to personal reasons, she opted not to attend school until January 2023, as she also had a job in a local veterinary clinic. So once Reid's grandfather heard the news, he contacted Loretta's new owner about purchasing her back, helping plan the surprise with Reid's sister, Jordan, 28, who captured the moment on video.
