According to a new report from The Verge, Facebook is planning to change its name. The company will be rebranded in order to reflect its focus on building the “metaverse”. The Facebook app will become one of many products under a parent company that also oversees WhatsApp, Instagram and more. According to the report, CEO Mark Zuckerberg will discuss the rebrand at Facebook’s Connect conference on Oct. 28. The “metaverse” is a virtual space where people interact with each other using VR and AR-powered avatars. Zuckerberg previously described it as "an embodied internet, where instead of just viewing content - you are in it". The company plans to hire 10,000 people across Europe to build its metaverse
