An unsuspecting mom opened a box left outside her family home to be surprised by her daughter who had been traveling overseas for the past three years. Susanne Steinhoff, 59, from Frankfurt, Germany, hadn’t seen daughter Lara, 22, in three years due to her daughter traveling – and travel restrictions – keeping them apart. Lara left for Australia on February 18, 2020, hoping to spend five months in the country, but with the country having some of the strictest covid restrictions, she was forced to extend her stay over and over. But, in early 2023, Lara's friend from Germany came to visit her in Sydney, with the trip making Lara feel homesick and wanting desperately to see her parents. She decided to purchase a plane ticket back to Germany with her friend, and the pair travelled home together, with Lara arriving in Frankfurt on April 1 before hiding in a cardboard box to surprise her mom.
