A Medal of Honor Recipient's Family Stayed at a Fisher House

Lance Cpl. Kyle Carpenter and Lance Cpl. Nick Eufrazio were on a rooftop in Afghanistan in 2010 when a live grenade landed with them on the roof. When Cpl. Carpenter threw himself between the grenade and his fellow Cpl. Eufrazio, he sustained massive injuries including the loss of his eye and a punctured lung. Military doctors were sure he wouldn't survive. After 4 years and about 40 surgeries, he visited the White House to be awarded the Medal of Honor from President Obama. During his time in multiple hospitals, Cpl. Carpenter's family stayed at a Fisher House. His family talks about their experience with the Fisher House and how amazing the experience was despite the traumatic events. Upholding Valor focuses on men and women from all backgrounds and eras of military service.
