The Mars Science Laboratory came across an unusual golf ball-sized object on the surface of the planet on Oct. 27, 2016. After analysis with the rover's ChemCam laser, it was confirmed that it's an iron nickel meteorite "fallen from the Red Planet's sky," according to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
