The impacts of climate change and health on our community has moved from concern to alarming among health care professionals. While it impacts us all – the health of those who have been historically marginalized will be the most adversely impacted. Indeed, there have been numerous articles and news stories about climate change and health including an international call to emergency action from over 200 health journals. A proactive group of Advocate Health professionals has assembled to educate and activate us to improve the direct care we provide to our patients. They have created this series seeking to prepare us to respond to the effects of climate on clinical conditions from the perspectives of air quality, rising temperatures, vector-borne diseases, and extreme weather and talk about climate health implications with our patients.
