A pair of loving daughters have given their father a remote birthday present he will never forget – by recreating a dance from their childhood 20 years later. In their separate apartments in Texas, Aiyana Thoma, 29, and her sister Megan Thoma, 34, revised and reenacted a series of moves from when they were kids, resulting in a wonderful side-by-side video. The inspiration came from old footage from their childhoods, where Aiyana and Megan danced around their family home to "The Bug" by Dire Straits. Their father, Ron Thoma, 68, is notoriously difficult to buy gifts for, according to his daughters, so they decided to have a brainstorming session over text. With Ron and his wife currently based in Germany and the coronavirus placing Texans under stay-at-home orders in the U.S., Aiyana and Megan were hampered from sending a physical present. And so, ahead of Ron's May 9 birthday, the sisters worked on their routines – Aiyana in Austin, Megan in Dallas – before creating an amazing side-by-side edit that included the old video. Making the video was a tedious task - Aiyana and Megan had to text each other regularly, making sure every move was in check, from correct steps to recreating tongue pokes. Aiyana and Megan presented the video to their father on a Zoom chat and immediately he was smiling from ear-to-ear, Aiyana said. She paragraphed her father's reaction as, "How did y'all do this? This is the greatest thing I have ever seen."
