Doctor Who Served Thousands Surprised By Family As Last Ever Patients

A family physician couldn’t hold back his tears when his wife and daughters surprised him as his last-ever patients after 17 years helping thousands in the community. Dr. Christopher Crome had no idea what was to come as he walked into his office at Genesis Health Plex in Bettendorf, Iowa, on October 29. During his time as a physician, Dr. Crome, 48, has had around 3,200 patients to care for – but he’s soon to take up a VP role with Genesis Health System, meaning he’ll no longer be dealing directly with patients. His wife, Jennifer, 49, and their daughters – Caitlin, 20, and Kylie, 16 – wanted to make the day extra special, and so Jennifer reached out to her husband's nursing staff to see if they could get into the exam room without her husband knowing. Caitlin traveled in from college for the occasion, and as Dr. Crome entered the room, the 20-year-old captured his reaction video. The family said, "Surprise!", and then informed Dr. Crome they wanted to be his last patients. The moment brought the doctor to tears, and Caitlin later shared the video on social media to an outpouring of positive messages and around 14 million views.
