Kids Surprised With Cake Announcing Foster Sibling Adoption

This is the sweet moment a group of siblings scream with delight when they discover a cake announcing their foster brother is set to be adopted. Three-year-old Jace was living with the Rutten family since he was one, and in the months prior to the surprise foster parents Candace and Michael's hoped to make him part of the family. The couple, from Olathe, Kansas, have a strong relationship with Jace's birth parents, as they previous adopted two of their other children, Kylie and Hailey, both eight. During the first couple of years that Jace was living with the Ruttens, Kylie and Hailey were not told that Jace was their biological brother, in case Jace's birthday parents eventually intended for him to return to live with them. But following a series of court hearings that took place virtually while the kids were in school, it was decided that Jace would officially become part of the family, too. For the big reveal, Candace, 39, and Michael, 40, gathered Kylie, Hailey and their siblings Bray, 13, and Link, 10, in the family's kitchen. Moments earlier, the couple had headed out to grab a selection of personalized cakes to break the big news, and, with the cakes on the kitchen counter, the kids sat with their backs to them, covering their eyes. Right on cue, Candace asked the five kids, including Jace, to turn around, and once they had read the note, there were screams of shock and delight.
