A hero passer-by has filmed the moment he rescued a young deer from a frozen lake. Jordan Wright was on his way to work when he spotted the terrified deer scrambling around on the sheet of ice covering a local lake in Urbana, Ohio. Suspecting the deer had wandered on and become trapped after slipping over, he leapt into action. With the ice no more than an inch and a half thick, Jordan knew he had to act fast before the deer fell through into the freezing waters as it continued to struggle to get to its feet. Using a tow rope from the back of his pick-up, Jordan steps onto the ice, with the small sheet of ice crackling under his feet. And as he ties it around the deer, the frightened critter remains motionless. Jordan gently hauls him to the side where the exhausted deer can barely muster enough strength to stand to its feet. After checking the deer was okay, Jordan left it in peace to recover from its ordeal.
