Justice and Health and Human Services Officials Announce Results of Health Care Fraud Investigation

Officials from the Justice and Health and Human Services departments announced the results of a federal investigation the Justice Department called the "largest coordinated health care fraud takedown in the history of the Department of Justice," resulting in charges against hundreds of defendants for "their alleged participation in health care fraud schemes involving approximately $14.6 billion in false claims submitted to Medicare, Medicaid, and other health care programs." Among those at the news conference was Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, who warned seniors and other public benefit recipients to closely guard their account information to help combat fraud.
