Runway of Mercedita Airport in Ponce, Puerto Rico flooded due to heavy rain from Hurricane Fiona

The runway of the Mercedita Airport in Ponce, Puerto Rico has been flooded due to heavy rains caused by Hurricane Fiona on Sunday. Footage shows brown water submerging the tarmac after a nearby river burst its banks and flooded the surrounding area with about six feet of water. The National Guard has reportedly dispatched personnel to conduct rescue operations. Hurricane Fiona slammed into Puerto Rico on Sunday, triggering severe flooding and landslides and knocking out power to the island. The US National Hurricane Centre said it will produce 'life-threatening and catastrophic flash and urban flooding' across Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
