They’re a type of satellite known as ‘CubeSats’. They’re designed to float above the Arctic and Antarctic and measure the heat emitted using infrared technology. NASA will use the data to forecast the impacts of climate change such as how much sea levels could rise and how weather patterns could shift. These forecasts will help farmers, fishers and coastal communities prepare for a warmer planet.
