DCT (DSG) is a new transmission approach, basically a cross between an automatic and manual shift transmission. It is two transmissions in one and can be made for various speeds. A DCT can be a wet design or dry DDCT. A shift is actually pre-staged by the alternate component. Rebuilding the AT/stick sections and wet/dry versions will vary.
