Omicron now in community transmission stage in India, govt body tells; Deaths noted in unvaccinated

The govt body, INSACOG, has confirmed that the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is in the community transmission stage in India and has become dominant in multiple metros. In its weekly bulletin on Sunday, the govt body warned that new cases have been rising exponentially and that the threat level remained unchanged. Earlier, Vice president M Venkaiah Naidu tested positive for coronavirus. Naidu shared the news in a tweet and said that he'll be going into self-isolation for a week and advised his close contacts to get themselves tested and isolate to cut the further spread.
