Washington County deputy charged with manslaughter after fatal motorcycle crash

A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy was formally charged in 5th District Court Wednesday after a crash in November 2024 that killed a motorcyclist. According to court documents, the deputy, Silafia Clyde Brown, 49, faces a second-degree felony charge of manslaughter, after “recklessly” causing the death of 33-year-old Daniel Jack Monfore of St. George. On Nov. 17, 2024, the crash occurred near mile marker 11 on Old Highway 91 near a sharper turn on the road. Two months later, KSL TV reported findings from court documents showing Brown had “crossed over the center divider line in a blind corner.” The move caused Brown to hit Monfore head-on.
