Kottayam: The cases relating to the nun rape case in which Bishop Franco Mulakkal was named accused will be investigated by Crime Branch. The decision was taken considering the workload of Vaikom DySP who is the current investigation officer. The case charged against Fr James Erthayil for attempting to influence the nuns to withdraw the complaint against the bishop and the case for releasing the photograph of the complainant nun to the media along with the press release of Missionaries of Jesus Congregation were handed over to the District Crime Branch. A case was charged against the congregation PRO Sr Amala after the nun’s photograph was disclosed. Crime Branch DySP Gireesh P. Sarathi will carry out further investigation into the cases.
