New Delhi: A central water commission report asked the state government to consider the possibility of constructing more dams in Achankovil, Pamba and Periyar rivers to prevent floods. The reports suggest that the existing regulations relating to the increase of water level in dams and releasing water from dams need to be re-examined. The reports have also suggested of increasing the amount of water released through Thanneermukkom bund and Thottappally Spillway. This report would be submitted to the government tomorrow.
