Spain is banning some outdoor work during extreme heat

Occupations including street cleaners and farm workers should not work during periods when a ‘red’ or ‘orange’ heat warning is issued. Last year, almost 62,000 deaths in Europe were related to heat. More than 11,300 of them in Spain. During hot periods, workers in agriculture, construction and transport are especially exposed to health dangers but many more people could change their working hours in order to beat the heat, too.
