MASTER THE V-TURN - Winning foot skills. English FA coach, Neil McKay, teaches you the V-Turn; how to change direction to avoid pressure. At a cone, pull back the ball with the sole of your foot and push the ball in the other direction with the instep of the same foot, creating a āVā shape. Be sure to open up your hips and create a rhythm switching feet. Use gentle touches to maintain close control. Once you have mastered this at one cone, increase the level of difficulty by simulating a match situation; dribble to other cones and use the V-turn to practice changing direction away from an opposing player. This is a great drill to practice daily for 2-3 minutes to improve your touch and control.
