Pres. Trump Comments on Supreme Court Global Tariffs Ruling

President Trump held a news conference after the Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling against his global tariffs. He called the decision "deeply disappointing" and said that he was "ashamed" of justices who ruled against him, but praised Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Brett Kavanaugh for dissenting. The president also stated, "While I am sure that they did not mean to do so, the Supreme Court's decision today made a president's ability to both regulate trade and impose tariffs more powerful and more crystal clear rather than less." He announced, "effectively immediately, all national security tariffs ... remain in place--fully in place--and in full force and effect," and that he would sign an order to impose a 10% global tariff "over and above our normal tariffs already being charged." When asked by a reporter why he would not work with Congress to come up with a plan for tariffs, he said he did not have to, though the Supreme Court affirmed tariffs were a congressional prerogative.
