Kochi: With the timely intervention of the state government, a 15-day-old baby was brought to Amrita Hospital in Kochi from Mangaluru after a five-hour ambulance journey for a life saving operation. The baby will undergo a heart surgery at the hospital. The ambulance reached the hospital at 4.30 pm on Tuesday after a super fast five-hour journey by road. Earlier, the baby was supposed to be taken to Thiruvananthapuram for treatment. The minister for health intervened and made arrangements to conduct the surgery at Kochi, thus making the journey shorter. The state government will meet all the medical expense of the baby.
