Shia LaBeouf has been accepted into the Catholic Church and is reportedly considering becoming a deacon. According to the Catholic News Agency, the 37-year-old actor was confirmed by Bishop Robert Barron of Winona-Rochester, Minnesota. Speaking with the outlet, LaBeouf’s sponsor, Brother Alexander Rodriguez, shared that he “spontaneously” said he wants to be a deacon. The 'Transformers' star was inspired to consider deaconship after his experience filming 'Padre Pio,' in which he plays an Italian priest. LaBeouf was raised by a Jewish mother and Catholic father and had both a bar mitzvah and a baptism. The actor has previously revealed that he found solace in Catholicism as it offered guidance during struggles with alcoholism and personal issues. Such issues include the December 2022 lawsuit filed by FKA Twigs, accusing him of “relentless abuse," sexual battery and assault.
