Listen & Learn with Learning Positions

Third grade teacher Jen Saul explains how she has students get into "learning positions" to promote active listening. When Jen wants students' attention at the front of the room, she has students physically move their chairs away from their desks and face the whiteboard. By doing this, students are removed from the distractions at their desks and can focus on learning. Jen explains how this strategy benefits not only the listeners, but also the presenters. By having the attention of their peers, students are more willing to share in front of the class.
