President Trump touted his administration's policies during a Cabinet meeting. He spoke on his use of the National Guard in Washington, D.C., and repeated his claims that crime is down in the district because of his efforts. The president said his administration will seek to institute the death penalty for those convicted of murder in the nation's capital. He also addressed inflation, artificial intelligence (AI), manufacturing, the trade deficit, and downsizing the federal government workforce. Following remarks from Cabinet members in attendance, the president took several questions from the press, including on the firing of Federal Reserve Board Governor Lisa Cook, the war in Ukraine, the possibility of sending National Guard troops to other U.S. cities, and the recent engagement of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, saying, "I think he's a great guy and I think that she's a terrific person. So, I wish them a lot of luck."
