It’s 10 times less likely to crack than normal glass, too. It’s called LionGlass and it was developed by scientists at Penn State University. It uses non-carbonated ingredients that melt at temperatures up to 400˚C lower than standard glass. This cuts furnaces’ energy consumption by 30%. LionGlass is also at least 10 times more crack-resistant than standard glass. Its makers say this could pave the way for thinner and lighter glass.
