Civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson died Tuesday morning, three months after he was hospitalized with a rare brain disease. He was 84. Jackson, a former presidential candidate and protégé of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., died peacefully at home in Chicago, surrounded by family, his loved ones said in a statement. “His unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and human rights helped shape a global movement for freedom and dignity,” his family said, calling the father of six a “tireless change agent” who left “an indelible mark on history.”
