January is unofficially known as National Breakup Month, with the first Monday of the month known as “Divorce Day.” So what is with all the heartbreak? You can blame it on the fresh starts and resolutions. People often take this period as an opportunity to evaluate their relationships to decide if their needs are being met. Combine this with the added pressure and responsibilities that the holidays put on relationships and no wonder people break up. The feeling of a new year and a new beginning also gives people the confidence and motivation to make difficult decisions. This includes moving on from relationships that they deem to no longer be fulfilling. While breakups are never easy, couples who find themselves in this situation may find that it is ultimately the best decision.
