Muddy flood gushes downhill stalling drivers in typhoon Gaemi-hit region of the Philippines

Muddy flash floods gushed downhill and stalled drivers as typhoon Gaemi intensified in the Philippines. Footage shows the fast-flowing brown deluge with rocks and other debris from the mountain causing drivers to slow down in Benguet province on July 23. Onlooker Jun Andrew Doremon said: ‘There were very big rocks. It was so dangerous. The mud also made the road slippery.' The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Gaemi, locally named Carina, affects mainland Luzon and can become a typhoon. It is expected to exit the Philippines on July 25 and make landfall in the northern part of Taiwan. Pagasa said: ‘Carina is forecast to make landfall over the northern portion of Taiwan this afternoon or early evening. On the track forecast, the typhoon will cross the rugged terrain of Taiwan and exit the Philippine area of responsibility.'
