Ann Mayers, a 74-year-old woman from Ohio, was arrested for allegedly robbing a credit union after falling victim to an online scam. Police found her in possession of a handgun and identified the car she used in the robbery. Mayers admitted to the crime, but authorities discovered that she had no prior criminal record. Her family revealed that she had been sending money to an unidentified individual, indicating she may be a scam victim herself. "In that aspect, some may see her as a 'victim.' Unfortunately, Ann chose to victimize several other people in the bank by robbing it with a firearm as a remedy for her situation," said Sgt. Brandon McCroskey. Mayers is facing charges of aggravated robbery with a firearm and tampering with evidence. She is currently being held at the Butler County Jail, where she'll remain until her initial court appearance.
