'I heard she doesn't meet requirements': Trump on Kamala Harris as VP nominee

US President Donald Trump spoke on reports of Kamala Harris not being eligible for the post of Vice President. When asked during a press conference, Trump said that he had heard about it but added the allegation was made by a lawyer who is highly qualified. 'I heard it today that she doesn't meet the requirements. And, by the way, the lawyer that wrote that piece is a very highly qualified, very talented lawyer. I have no idea if that's right,' Trump said. Trump added that he assumed the Democrats would have checked these issues before nominating her. 'But that's a very serious -- you're saying that -- they're saying that she doesn't qualify because she wasn't born in this country.' The reporter then responds that Harris was born in the United States but her parents might not have been permanent residents at the time. Trump had earlier promoted the 'birther' lie that Obama, America's first black president, was not born in the United States. Watch the full video for all the details.
