Platteville Police Department in Colorado released body camera and dash camera footage of an incident that involved a police car with the suspect inside being struck by an oncoming train. Police officers pulled a 20-year-old woman, Yareni Rios-Gonzalez, over due to a road rage incident that allegedly involved a firearm. An officer parked his car in the middle of the train tracks and left the vehicle in order to arrest the woman. Once the woman was handcuffed she was put inside the police car parked on the tracks. Multiple officers went to investigate Rios-Gonzalez's car for the firearm. While searching, a fast-moving train began to approach the area where the car was parked. Before any officer could move the vehicle, the car with the suspect inside was struck. Immediately, officers called for paramedics and approached the struck vehicle. The woman was transported to a local hospital to be treated for her serious injuries and is expected to survive. The officer who left his vehicle on the railroad has been placed on leave as the incident is being investigated.
