Kerecis takes the skin of wild Atlantic cod, caught sustainably in waters off Iceland, and turns it into odorless, sterilized skin grafts. The structure of cod skin is similar to human skin – containing fats, proteins, elastins, and other natural skin elements. The grafts created by Kerecis help to speed up the healing of wounds and burns and minimize scarring. Kerecis is a member of the Iceland Ocean Cluster, which connects entrepreneurs, businesses, and experts in marine industries and promotes the use of 100% of each harvested fish - creating a circular economy from the by-products of fish processing.
