Kothamangalam: Thousands of Jacobite faithful gathered at the Marthoma Cheriyapalli, Kothamangalam, on Sunday to re-enact the historic ‘Koonankurisu Sathyam’ or Coonan Cross Oath, which took place at Mattanchery in 1653. There the faithful had vowed not to submit themselves before the Portuguese ecclesiastical authorities. Joseph Mar Gregorios, metropolitan trustee of the Jacobite faction, recited the oath to the faithful.
