McDonald’s Worldwide Impacted By Major IT Failure

McDonald’s has been impacted by a system failure that has disrupted its stores all over the world. Reports online claim that McDonald’s in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom have experienced the issue. "We are aware of a technology outage that impacted our restaurants; the issue is now being resolved. We thank customers for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused," McDonald’s told CNN. McDonald’s gave no further information on the situation and it remains unclear if the fast-food chain has been affected in the US. McDonald’s in Japan posted on X that “many stores across the country have temporarily suspended operations." A McDonald’s worker in the UK told CNN that staff had to take orders and tell colleagues in the kitchen what to cook. A spokesperson for McDonald’s in Australia told CNN that its restaurants nationwide have been impacted, as have chains in Hong Kong & Taiwan. "Due to a computer system failure, the mobile ordering and self-ordering kiosks are not functioning. Please order directly at the restaurant counter," McDonald’s in Hong Kong posted on Facebook. CNN reported that 3,000 McDonald’s in Japan, 1,500 UK stores and 1,000 McDonald’s in Australia have been affected. However, the fast food chain stressed that “the issue is not related to a cybersecurity event."
