U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D-MI) spoke to reporters in Detroit about affordability and Vice President JD Vance's visit to campaign with state Republicans. He attacked President Trump's decision to continue what he viewed as "a vanity war" with Canada over tariffs which he claimed Michiganders were "paying the price" for. El-Sayed was joined by his former primary election opponent and current state Senator Mallory McMorrow (D) who also delivered brief remarks. El-Sayed would face Republican Mike Rogers in the November general election which the nonpartisan Cook Political Report rated as a "Toss Up."
