Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed spoke to reporters in Detroit about affordability and Vice President JD Vance's visit to campaign with state Republicans. He attacked President Trump's decision to continue what he described as "a vanity war" with Canada over tariffs which he said Michiganders were "paying the price" for. El-Sayed was joined by his primary election opponent and current state Senator Mallory McMorrow (D), who also made brief remarks. El-Sayed would face Republican Mike Rogers in the November general election which the nonpartisan Cook Political Report rated as a "Toss Up."
