T'puram: Chief Minsiter Pinarayi Vijayan said that there were shortcomings in the alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department. The government had taken up the IMD predictions very clearly, but there was no alerts issued on extremely heavy rains lashing Kerala in the month of August. They had only predicted heavy rains and based on it, the people were alerted. The minimum level at which water can be released from Idukki dam is at 2373 ft.
