Third grade teacher Jen Saul talks about how she builds a positive and safe classroom community. Jen describes how she celebrates mistakes in her classroom, encouraging her students to take risks. In order to take risks, her students need to feel safe. Building off of students' hopes and dreams for the school year, Jen works with her students to create a class pledge. Throughout the year, the class uses the pledge to guide their behavior.
