LA tells renters they can skip out on paying their landlords

Los Angeles will soon give tenants two months of unpaid rent until their landlords can begin eviction proceedings. The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 Tuesday to grant the new rules, which take effect April 16. The rules apply to rent based on fair market values, $2,085 for a one-bedroom and $2,601 for a two-bedroom unit. County Supervisor Kathyrn Barger cast the only dissenting vote, arguing the change "disenfranchises" property owners.
