Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney has been banned from football for eight months for 262 betting breaches. The suspension means the 27-year-old will not be able to play for club or country until Jan. 16, 2024. Toney was originally charged for allegedly breaching the FA’s betting rules on 232 occasions. The FA confirmed in December that Toney had been charged with misconduct in relation to 30 additional alleged breaches. The news means Toney is unlikely to move club this summer as any suitors will likely be deterred by his ban. Toney has scored 21 goals in 35 appearances for Brentford this season. Toney played for Scunthorpe United, Wigan Athletic, Peterborough United and his current club Brentford during the time of the alleged breaches.
