Blast inside Bihar madrassa building, Imam of adjoining mosque found dead

A powerful blast tore down the building of a madrassa in Bihar's Banka on Tuesday. According to police, incident killed the Imam of the adjacent mosque and injured others. Imam was apparently the sole occupant of the premises which was locked from outside. Residents of the area were rattled by the loud explosion that took place around 8 am. The madrasa, which had close to 200 students, was shut on May 5 due to lockdown. Banka SP, Arvind Kumar Gupta said, “Madrasa wasn't functional due to lockdown, we're waiting for bomb squad to reach. There was an explosion and roof collapsed. Cause of blast is yet to be ascertained.” As per police, the deceased was identified as Mohammad Abdul Sattar Mobin. Mobin was from Jharkhand‘s Madhupur and resided at the seminary as a caretaker. A case was registered under sections of IPC and Section-5 of the Explosive Act. Bihar home department has ordered an intensive investigation into the incident.
