Palakkad: The young turks in Pattambi CPI have raised grave allegations against their own party local MLA, Muhammed Muhsin. AIYF district committee member, K E Shaji and local committee members, Rahim and Sajish, accuse the MLA of being led by religious fundamentalist forces, whom they accuse of ‘purchasing’ the seat using financial muscle. They also aver that the MLA distances himself from party workers. The discontent, which was simmering during the 2016 assembly elections in the local unit of the party is now being vented in the open. The accusers further charge that the MLA, who had no previous relationship with CPI, was secreted into the party using ‘artificial’ membership in lieu of cash. However, the district secretary of the party, K P Suresh Raj, pooh- poohed the allegations saying that it was the handiwork of disgruntled elements, who are perpetually defaming the party on social media.
